400 parkruns! Fay's running milestone.

Fay Morgan recently completed her 400th parkrun, making her 13th for most events completed in Australia! She has also volunteered at the event over 25 times.

Fay is a big Active Truth fan and we were so pleased to provide her with a set for her 400th run. We recently spoke with Fay about her incredible achievement, and her recommendations for want-to-be runners.

(Fay's daughter is our superstar production guru, Bel).

When and why did you start running?
I started running in Feb 2005 (turned 50 — a late bloomer haha) to increase my fitness and general health due to family heart history. I was playing basketball but needed to up the ante — still playing basketball for 43 years now.

How do you stay motivated?
Running with a buddy or group is helpful as it makes you accountable — no excuses, set a time and day and show up. Not letting yourself or the team down. Playing team sports helps even though running is an individual sport.

What are your top tips for anyone interested in learning how to run?
Just get out and do it. Personally, I don’t attend running techniques training. Talking to other runners about running and doing what feels good for you works for me. I class myself as a fun recreational runner but still have that competitiveness and experience a runner’s high after runs. I literally bounce off walls after — or maybe it's the post run coffee.

What are your must-have items for running?
Good shoes (no brainer)
Comfortable bike shorts, and singlets that are breathable
A cooling neck towel is a must for hot mornings — particularly for us women (we can run hot at times, you know what I’m talking about ladies — especially over 50’s)
Hat/sun visor
Sunglasses
Garmin Watch — not necessary but everyone loves to track their time etc
Wear a smile — it helps :)

What's your all time favourite AT set to run in?
The Bronze Leopard Bike Shorts — they never ride up or move. I also love the 7/8 Tights — they give me a streamlined look and feel amazing!

Parkruns are free, weekly, community events all around the world.
